What are sign stand off fixings?
The short answer is that they are mounting hardware for signs and other rigid print. If you see a sign that appears to be fixed but a small distance from a wall then it is likely the sign has been attached to the wall using some form of sign stand off fixings.
The fixings are known by a variety of names such as sign stand-offs, sign supports, aluminium stand off fixings, aluminium standoffs and standoff fixings.
Why do I need sign stand off fixings?
Standoffs for signs are not the only way to mount signs on walls. They can be fixed directly on the wall or you can use various adhesive-based options. But using sign standoffs creates a professional and smart look, as well as providing a method of supporting the weight of the sign.
Which ones are right for me?
There is no ‘correct’ answer to the questions but there are a couple of considerations to begin with. Firstly, the thickness of the sign panel and secondly the distance from the wall that you want to mount the sign. Check the specification to find the maximum panel depth it will support. Its width will tell you how far away from the wall your sign will be. The choice at this stage will decide what diameter of holes you’ll need on your sign.
Which finish do I need?
Two choices are purely personal – the diameter of the stand off and the finish. Most sign standoffs are made from aluminium and powder coated in a finish. Standard finishes include Polished Chrome, Satin Chrome, Brass and Black. If cost is an issue chose the lowest price product. If look is important choose the finish that compliments or contrasts with the wall colour or the environment where the sign is to be mounted.
Are all sign stand off fixings the same?
No. Like any product the parts are manufactured to different standards. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to tell by looking or holding the standoff – and you certainly cannot tell if you buy online. So choose a reputable supplier, and make sure you can return them if the quality is poor. It is important that the fixings are strong enough to take and retain the weight of the sign. In addition, poor quality finishes will tarnish quickly. They’ll look shoddy and may need to be replaced.
How many standoffs will I need?
When you are purchasing these sign stand offs, remember that you want more than one – you should need one for each corner of the sign IF your sign is less than four square feet. If it is, you may need to install them half way between points or every 18” or so. In addition, remember that the caps to these screw in to the barrel, and allows for a 1/4”sign to hang.
In the competitive sign manufacturing and installation sector, the importance of purchasing high-quality standoffs cannot be overstated. These seemingly minor components play a crucial role in the overall functionality, durability, and aesthetic appeal of signage. Sign companies that invest in top-tier standoffs reap numerous benefits that contribute to their reputation, customer satisfaction, and long-term success.
First and foremost, quality signage standoffs ensure the structural integrity of signs. These fixtures act as a link between the sign and the mounting surface, bearing the weight and stress of the signage. Inferior standoffs can compromise the stability of the sign, leading to potential hazards like falling signage, property damage, or even personal injury. By purchasing premium stand-offs, sign companies demonstrate a commitment to safety and reliability, fostering trust among clients and regulatory authorities.
Additionally, high-quality standoff mounts offer enhanced longevity. They are crafted from durable materials, such as stainless steel or aluminum, which resist corrosion, rust, and weathering. Signs exposed to varying environmental conditions, such as rain, humidity, or extreme temperatures, require standoffs that can withstand these challenges over time. Investing in quality standoffs means fewer replacements, reduced maintenance costs, and ultimately, increased client satisfaction as signs retain their pristine appearance for years.
Look also play a pivotal role in the signage industry. Quality standoffs provide a sleek, modern, and professional finish to signs, elevating the overall visual appeal. Sign companies understand that aesthetics are often the first impression a business makes on potential customers. By opting for top-tier standoffs, they contribute to a polished look that resonates with clients seeking sophistication and style in their branding efforts.
The importance of buying quality standoffs for sign companies cannot be emphasized enough. These components are not merely functional elements but critical factors that impact safety, durability, aesthetics, and brand perception. By prioritising the purchase of high-quality standoffs, sign companies position themselves as reliable, quality-driven partners capable of delivering exceptional signage solutions that stand the test of time.
