What is a Sneeze Screen?
A protective Sneeze Screen is an acrylic, PETG, Polycarbonate or Styrene screen designed as a barrier to protect against bacteria and germs exposed from coughs, sneezes, and other fluid expectoration.
Companies are installing workplace protection screens or desktop divider screens at checkout points and customer service counters. These are helping to protect their customers and employees against the spread of COVID-19.
So why are businesses adding sneeze screens?
We are continuing to learn more about COVID-19 and how it spreads. As a result, the government is issuing national guidelines and best practices. Those of which are being implemented to help see us through this worldwide pandemic.
Most of you will be aware of the ‘Stay Alert, Control the Virus, Save Lives’ campaign. As a result, businesses are doing everything they can to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Covid-19 seems to spread mainly from person-to-person:
- Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
- Through droplets that an infected person who will produce after coughing or sneezing
- People seem to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic (the sickest).
- Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms. There have been reports of this occurring with this new coronavirus. However, this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people nearby and potentially infect them.
Considering the above, and with social distancing guidelines in place, employers are providing workplace safety screens to help limit the spreading of the virus. That’s why many businesses are investing in protective sneeze screens.
