The company was founded by Jo Downs, a renowned glass artist, who started out in a small studio in Cornwall in 1995. Since then, the company has grown and now has several galleries across the UK.
Jo Downs Handmade Glass creates a wide range of glass products, including wall art, bowls, plates, vases, and sculptures. Each piece is individually crafted by skilled glass artists using traditional techniques, such as fusing, slumping, and kiln forming.
The company takes inspiration from the Cornish landscape, with many of their designs featuring the colours and textures of the sea, sky, and countryside. They also offer bespoke commissions, working with clients to create unique pieces that are tailored to their individual tastes and requirements.
With all the care and skill that goes involved in crafting the stunning glassworks that the studio makes it is no surprise that they need complete peace of mind when mounting products such as their world-famous leaf collections and wall panels for display at their six galleries in Cornwall and Sunningdale, Berks or mounting specially commissioned pieces in locations worldwide.
The team at Jo Downs not only needed standoffs that would support the weight of the product but did so safely – an important consideration when it comes to glass, and even more so given the popularity of their galleries. Additionally given the beautiful design of the pieces, the standoffs also needed to look good and stay looking good, even when exposed to the Cornish sea air and sunshine.

The subtle polished chrome finish of the standoff does not detract from the colours of the glasswork and will not tarnish or discolour.
